The ECVDI Diploma examination application process

There are two parts to the Dip ECVDI examination: a theoretical part and a practical part.  The information given here relates to the application process only.  For information on the structure of the examination please go to the Examination Committee page.

1. Theoretical part of the exam

    Deadline to submit application

    In order to submit an application

    1st May in the year you intend to sit the examination

    You must have:

    • Completed at least 15 supervised months of the training program by May1st in the year that you intend to sit the examination
    • Have all relevant enrolment and annual activity form submissions up to date
    • Paid the theoretical examination fee via the EVDI website

    Once you have submitted an application form you will receive an email to let you know whether your submission has been successful or not.  If your application is accepted, then you will be contacted by the examination committee to make arrangements for the theoretical part of the exam.

     

    2. Practical part of the exam

      1st May in the year you intend to sit the examination

       

       

       

       

      You must have:

      • Achieved a PASS in the Theoretical part of the examination
      • Completed at least 27 supervised months of the training program by 1st May in the year you intend to sit the examination
      • Paid the practical examination fee via the EVDI website
      • Completed an oral presentation to an academic meeting at your own training institution
      • Completed an oral presentation to a National or International conference
      • Had two publications in the field of diagnostic imaging accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal by 1st May of the year of the practical examination
      • One of these publications mustbe a first author publication. One may be a case report.
      • Submitted your completed confirmed case diary.

      Once you have submitted an application form you will receive an email to let you know whether your submission has been successful or not.  If your application is accepted, then you will be contacted by the examination committee to make arrangements for the practical part of the exam.

      Resitting the ECVDI examination

      A candidate who fails either part of the examination may have the opportunity to re-sit that part on another occasion.  Certain rules govern eligibility:

      • The candidate may make not more than FOUR attempts at the theory examination and no more than FOUR attempts at the practical examination.
      • Candidates must pass all parts of the examination within the eight years of completion of their residency program, or within eight cycles of the examination  if it is not held every year.

      Once you have submitted an application form to resit part of the examination, you will receive an email to let you know whether your submission has been successful or not.  If your application is accepted, then you will be contacted by the examination committee to make arrangements for the relevant exam.

       

      Application fees

      There are fees to be paid for enrolment and to sit the parts of the examination.  These are as follows:

      How to pay the fees

      Fees must be paid via the EVDI website.

      Option 1:

      1. Send an email to the treasurer, Lorrie Gaschen, at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
      2. State what fee you need to pay and what the amount is. For example: "written exam 400 euros" or "oral exam 400 euros"
      3. The treasurer will send you a pay pal invoice and you will get a notice from paypal to pay online with a credit card

      Option 2:
