EBVS Meeting Minutes

EBVS Meeting April 15 -16, 2011
Minutes relevant to ECVDI

The EBVS is looking at increasing its visibility.  Each college is encouraged to inform better their diplomates about EBVS and to circulate the EBVS newsletters.  The EBVS plans 2 newsletters/year for the next 2 years, and then 4/year.

Currently, the EBVS is recruiting to replace the leaving secretary (Sharon Green).  The job description was presented and new CEO/administrator could be either a veterinarian or a non-veterinarian with familiarity with the topic.  Many secretarial tasks are currently not performed optimally.  The EBVS is considering an immediate increased fee to accommodate this needed secretarial support.  This could be supported by the Colleges or by individual diplomates. EBVS will put a document on their website forum and an electronic voting will be established.

The EBVS has compiled “Proposed best practices for certification examinations” (see below). These guidelines provoked several comments from College representatives, especially regarding the publications requirements.

E-mail Print PDF

As you all know, this year's EVDI congress will be held in London (1-3 September), and the organisation committee has scheduled our business meetings to be held on the Wednesday 31st of August. The program of the morning will be as follows:

9h00-9h45:Supervisor meeting:

This meeting will be a great opportunity for all resident' supervisors and residency programs' directors to meet the members of the Credential Committee and discuss current issues such as the assessment of residency programs, individual training programs, etc.

9h45-11h15:Meeting for ECVDI members on the functioning of the ECVDI:

The aim of this meeting is to explain the evolutions of our College over the last few years and the underlying reasons for these. It is of paramount importance that the College members are aware of the way the College is organised and how we are working to prepare the future challenges that our College will encounter.

11h15-13h00:Annual General Meeting

These meetings will be held in the Great Hall at The Royal Veterinary College, Camden For organisation purposes, it would be very helpful for us to know how many members we should expect to join us for these meetings. We would therefore be grateful if you could reply to this survey and let us know if you are intending to be present and to which meetings.

We thank you in advance for your reply and we are looking forward to see as many of you as possible in London. J. Saunders, ECVDI President A. Petite, ECVDI Secretary
