Message from the President
This newsletter comes just before summer for most of us, and hopefully there will be some chance for vacation and rejuvenation for us all in that period. A number of items are current and I would like to share them with you.
The Job Task Analysis report has now been finalized and will be sent to all members in the coming weeks. The primary function of this analysis is to establish and maintain a close alignment between the activities of working diplomats and our College examinations. Please look through the report, it makes interesting reading and gives an insight into the various roles we take on in our day to day work. We had an excellent response, thank you, and the analysis has already prompted some updates that will be detailed in bylaw updates for voting at the 2025 AGM.
On the topic of surveys, ACVR and our College have been approached by Ethos Veterinary Health, a large veterinary healthcare provider in the US. They are performing a survey titled “Developing a Competency Framework for Board-Certified Veterinary Radiologists.” They are looking for input from a wide range of individuals, practice administrators, non specialists and also specialists such as ourselves. They are focusing on competencies covered in Resident training programs. If you are interested you can read more at the link below and choose if you wish to participate in the survey. The topic is relevant to us and we have asked that we see the outcome of the survey. https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/3f92a8b2c341476286cc868b8f4afb72
VRU journal needs reviewers for papers! Please volunteer and review a paper for the continued success of the journal. The College recognizes the importance of this role and for this reason includes this activity in our 5 yearly Diplomate re-evaluation forms. For more information please visit: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/17408261/homepage/editorialboard.html or contact adminecvdi@ecvdi.eu.
At a follow-up meeting with the President of EAVDI , Antonella Puggioni and others, the details of our plan to streamline job and other advertisements were put in place. Job positions or events that are associated with the College, namely jobs calling for Diplomates and Residents or events limited to these individuals will be advertised through the College. Jobs advertisements for positions not currently monitored by the College e.g. imaging interns or events of an imaging nature not limited to Diplomates and Residents are advertised by the EAVDI. Previously there was a complex arrangement of revenue transfer between the organizations for advertisements. We hope that the new arrangement will be more transparent and also allow the Association to better serve those with a general interest in Veterinary Radiology. Both EAVDI and ECVDI will have links to each other's advertisement pages. This new arrangement will be reviewed around the time of the 2026 AGM.
Finally, work is under way on the matter of the distribution of grants to support members and residents in activities related to the aims of the College. The funds for these new grants come from interest on College Capital in secure bank accounts, a process that was outlined at the 2024 AGM in Athens. A dedicated Committee, the Grant Allocation Committee has been set up, Chaired by Chris Warren-Smith to oversee the advertising, call for applications distribution and monitoring of awards. Further information will be circulated in July.

RIVDI Sponsorship Renewals
The ECVDI depends on sponsorship to undertake educational projects such as RIVDI, and the RIVDI committee is delighted to confirm our sponsorship renewals for 2025/6.
For 2025-26 RIVDI is supported by platinum sponsorship from Idexx and Vets Choice Radiology. We are extremely grateful for their generous and valued involvement, which enables RIVDI to continue to offer ECVDI residents extensive on-line and face-to-face learning opportunities, such as the EVDI Congress residents day in Barcelona and the ECVDI Mock Board in Paris.
RIVDI New Resident Welcome Meeting
Following the success of our new initiative for 2024, the RIVDI Committee is pleased to announce our second online Welcome meeting for ECVDI residents and this is scheduled for Wednesday 20th August 2025 from 15:00 to 19:00 (London time).
This is an opportunity for us to introduce our RIVDI training programme to all ECVDI residents, but is specifically targeted at those who are early in their residency programme.
Please can we ask all Programme Managers to allow their first year residents to get on board to support this event and if you have any further questions please contact the RIVDI team at rivdi@ecvdi.eu.
EVDI Congress RIVDI Residents Day
The RIVDI committee is thrilled to be hosting the resident's day at the EVDI conference in Sitges, Barcelona on Wednesday 17th September 2025.
We have experienced and specialist diplomates, for both large animals and small animals, who will each present an interesting and informative lecture during the morning, followed by some exciting and challenging cases for residents to practice during the afternoon. We will be running two separate, small and large animal streams throughout the day. A full timetable will be published shortly.
RIVDI Mock Board 2025
The 2025 Mock Board Practical Exam is scheduled for 8th & 9th November 2025 and is to be held at the Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon. The RIVDI committee is offering this opportunity to any resident who has passed the Theoretical Exam regardless of whether they intend to sit the Practical Exam in January 2026.
Kindly note that we do not take into account the credentials for the Mock Board, but these have to be fulfilled in order to sit the official exam in January 2026.
