Message from the President

Exam congratulations.

The certifying practical examination took place as usual in Zurich at the end of January.  Both Large Animal and Small Animal track candidates took the exam.  My thanks go to the Radiology Department of the Veterinary University of Zurich for hosting the examination.   With a pass result in the examination being the final requirement for registration as a Diplomate of our College,  I am very pleased to welcome our new Diplomates:

Small Animal

Victor Alves Nores, Florian Azoulay, Marine Beauvois, Nora Bouhsina, Karin Bruning-Staal, David Casado Bregon, Antón Costas, Andrea De Bonis, Marion Fenet, Carolin Fischer, Jérémie Ficheroulle, Noemi Gomez Martin, Emeline Gruget, Elodie Huguet, Cesar Llanos, Cristobal Lopez, Martina Manfredi, Anton Martenne-Duplan, Mareike-Kirstin Marx, Aurore  Masson, Luis Mate, Mirko Mattolini, Ombeline McGregor, Stephanie Mella, Mari Nyborg Hauback, Alejandro Orobia, Marc Orts, Luis Perez Lopez, Cesar Sanchez Jiminez, Adrianna Skarbek, Anna Tellegen, Julius Underberg, Eva Vandermeulen, Catherine Veciana Gaëlle Vincken, James Whitlock

For these new Diplomates I know for you the stress of exam preparation is passed and I hope that you find working environments which will allow you to gain in experience and knowledge. Our specialization is constantly evolving,  feeding off advances lead by our own Diplomates, and by others who contribute to our science.  Quickly your role will have changed from a candidate hoping to fulfill the requirements of the College to being one of the pillars of the College and of our specialization.  I encourage you to contribute to the workings of our College and to the science and clinical practice of our specialization

Also in January, part one theoretical exam candidates sat from their respective exam centers.  These were mainly located in Europe but this year spanned the globe with candidates sitting across 19 time zones from Australia to West Coast USA.  I am grateful to Rob Malinowski who as usual implemented the online theoretical exam and the practical examination in Zurich, providing the digital exam interface and assisting in collating and analysis of the raw results.

The successful candidates for the part one examination were:

Large Animal

Elisabetta Giorio, Giulia Guerri, Linda Rutigliano, Stefanon Schiavo

Small Animal

Lauren Ayne, Carli Bentley, Juliette Burg, Tatjana Chan, Alexander Chapple, Chavdar Chernev, Charlotte Coeuriot, Philippe Colombe, Giulia Della Serra, Moniek Dekkers, Stuart Eddy, Anna Eichrodt, Joy Einwaller, Nicoletta Fantaconi, Maxime Frouin, Eva Gonzàlez Perez, Florian Graf, Isabella Guarnera, Bethany Guy, Carolina Hamm Vinga,  Iris Hummel, Kevin Kang, Kimberly Lim, Ying Ying Lo, Isobel MacEwan, Ohad Mann, Roberto Marazzi, Chiara Massarenti, Maria Miguel-Garces, Manon Mikić, Martina Mugnai, Dario Nappo, Thomas Natsiopoulos, Clara Pagá, Anna Palomares, Carles Planas Padrós, Joana Pontes, Tessa Procter, Maria Prüllage, Riccardo Rossi,  Martina Rosto, Blanca Serra Gomez Della  Serna, Anna Slusarek, Laura Weston, Bas Wetzels, Mason White

To them I also extend my congratulations.  For you  success will be a different transition.  Your journey to becoming a Diplomate has taken an irreversible step forward.

These examinations, and all the support work behind them including the setting of the curriculum, exam quality control, checking credentials, preparation via RIVDI and exam training, support and training from residency directors and supervisors in addition to the actual examination director and committees, all of these are a critical part of the College’s purpose.  My thanks go to Catherine Barclay who on the front line coordinating  these activities, manages to keep all parties in contact and informed.

This year as is often the case some candidates will have to resit the examination.  To those individuals I encourage you to keep your spirits up.  I can tell you that the some of the most able radiologist and active members of our College are individuals who have taken repeated exam sittings on their path to become Diplomates.

Diplomate Evaluations 2025

To existing  -- long registered Diplomates I have been asked to report that the Diplomate re-evaluation process this year is progressing in record fashion.  As I write we have 73 Diplomates falling due for re-evaluation and we have received 71 completed evaluation forms ahead of the 1st March deadline.  Thank you to all for your timely submission.

ECVDI Investment Oversight Committee -  2 new advisors

Background to the position:

In order to ensure financial security for the ECVDI funds under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), the ECVDI Board have agreed to distribute them across multiple financial institutions using an online investment service called Flagstone. This process is administered by the Treasurer, but in order to apply due diligence, two advisors are required to oversee and agree the decision-making process in relation to where these funds are placed on an annual basis.

The main workload will be focused around the end of August/start of September each year when the existing investments mature and decisions have to be made regarding investments for the following year. No specific financial or investment knowledge is required, but since these decisions have to be agreed upon rapidly due to the constantly changing account terms and conditions, engagement, and response during this time are vital. Occasionally, some ad hoc work may also be required in the interim.

Requirements: 2 advisors to work directly with the Treasurer

  • Appointment: Nomination of suitable Diplomate member or self-nomination - to be considered by the Selection Committee
  • Time spent in position: Staggered 2-year term (so always 1 experienced advisor in place when new one appointed) with option to be re-appointed by mutual agreement with the Selection Committee / Treasurer.

Duties:

The objectives of the position are as follows:

  • Work with the Treasurer to have oversight of, and to provide agreement for, the investments being suggested for ECVDI funds, in order to apply due diligence in relation to the investment of college finances.
  • Be available to actively engage in this process particularly during August / September but also  at other times of the year as required by the Treasurer

We look forward to receiving your nominations.
Kind regards
Selection Committee
