Message from the Outgoing President
Dear All,
The two years of my presidency have flown by quickly, and with this final newsletter, I want to once again express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust you have placed in me.
In 2020, Catherine asked if I would be willing to stand as a candidate for the vice-president position. I was already deeply honored that someone had nominated me, so I agreed with a bit of pride. When I was elected, I received so many incredibly kind messages on my phone that I was left speechless. At the same time, I felt a bit anxious: President of ECVDI, what lies ahead?
Fortunately, during my two years as vice-president, I worked closely with Chris Warren-Smith and Catherine Barclay, learning a great deal from them about the running and steering of the College. In the board meetings, I got to know the Executive Board members better and increasingly understood the immense work these colleagues put in and what a wonderful, active, and professional team we have at ECVDI. I also would like to acknowledge all the committee members who voluntarily contribute so much effort to the College, enabling us to grow and develop further.
In 2022, Chris passed the leadership to me, and suddenly, I was the President of ECVDI. It was a tremendous honor, yet also quite daunting.
I have served the College with great pleasure, and the two years have passed quickly. The board meetings and AGM’s were intense, interesting, and usually very productive. The conferences were well-organized with excellent presentations and enjoyable social events. It was always a joy to see and speak with friends and colleagues.
I enjoyed organizing the Zoom and Forum meetings, and I hope we will continue to provide these platforms for diplomates to discuss the issues that concern us. This also gives the board an opportunity to hear and listen to what our diplomates have to say.
What brought me great joy was having residents, as well as both young and experienced diplomates, approach me with their questions, fears, suggestions, and ideas for the College.
I hope I have been worthy of the College’s trust and that the diplomates will continue to be actively engaged so that our wonderful College can continue to grow and become increasingly professional.
I am still concerned about the ‘invisible radiologist’ phenomenon and the growing divide between teleradiologists and clinical radiologists. We must move forward together, respecting and helping each other. Ultimately, we all want the same thing: to help animals through diagnostic imaging, to assist owners and other specialists in understanding what disease their animal has, and, of course, to work with the fantastic diagnostic imaging techniques such as X-ray, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, SPECT-CT, PET-CT, and whatever the future may bring.
With Fintan, a fresh breeze is coming, and I hope you will support him as much as I have felt supported by the diplomates and residents.
And please remember that the Executive Board is here for the diplomates, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas for the College. The simplest way is to email Catherine, and she will forward it to the appropriate member who can provide a suitable response.
Take care, and see you at the next conference.
With kind regards,
Susanne Boroffka

Message from the Incoming President
It is a month now since the Athens meeting and my appointment as College President. I wanted with this short message to show my gratitude to Susanne for all her work as President. I have worked closely with her over the past two years and I have learned to appreciate her good wishes and positive vision for the College. She has done a tremendous job as President and I know that I can rely on her as she takes on a new role as Past President.
My thanks again also to all those who stepped down from our various committees. Thank you for your dedicated service to the College. And to those who have come forward and filled those vacancies, thank you and welcome to your new role. Our selection committee keeps a good track of all who offer their time to fill our various roles. Rest assured that if you were nominated to a role that had other nominees and you were not appointed this time, your involvement is highly appreciated and we may well reach out to you to fill the same or other roles at some later time point.
Finally I want to congratulate Nathalie Rademacher our new Vice-President, Maureen Lazard our new Member at Large and Sumari Dancer our Secretary-elect. I look forward to working with them, and with our committees and College members so that we can continue the successful path the College has been following.

Joe Morgan Award - for best Resident presentation

Joe Morgan is a highly esteemed and beloved Veterinary Radiologist who has significantly contributed to resident training throughout his career. His research in musculoskeletal imaging and global teaching efforts have profoundly shaped the specialty. Dr. Morgan, an Emeritus Professor of Veterinary Radiology at the University of California, Davis, authored "Techniques in Veterinary Radiography" and "Radiology in Veterinary Orthopedics," along with numerous articles on small animal musculoskeletal imaging. His books have made a global impact and are widely used as teaching tools.
Dr. Morgan's work has been influential in educating veterinarians and many ECVDI and ACVR residents on radiographic techniques and their applications in veterinary orthopedics. Sharing his veterinary radiology knowledge was always important to him. He had a passion for teaching and mentoring young veterinarians, residents, and many Diplomates. The veterinary community, especially in diagnostic imaging, knows him as an enthusiastic and highly skilled speaker.
In 2016, the Joe Morgan Award was introduced in his presence. This award is presented to the resident who delivers the best oral presentation at the annual EVDI congress. Joe always had great respect for anyone who received this award and took immense pride in seeing the success of the residents he mentored, often more so than his own accomplishments.
