Message from the President

Dear All,

I hope that most of you had a wonderful summer with some relaxing vacation.

This will be a short Newsletter from my side, since I am at the point of going on vacation.

During the past weeks, Fintan McEvoy, Rob Malinowski, TA committee members and myself started working on the upcoming JTA and several meetings have taken place. Hopefully we will be able to send out the JTA by the end of this year or early 2024.

Following the good response to the Zoom meeting earlier this year and the Forum meeting in Dublin, I will be planning the next Zoom meeting in November. If you have any topics you would like to discuss, please let either me or Catherine Barclay know.

During the SBM we concluded that the Media Committee needs support to be able to do the work, so we decided to introduce a webmaster to the College to coordinate and place the content on the website. The media committee will then mainly be responsible for creating/generating content. Chris Barclay has been nominated with approval of the Board to take the role of the webmaster.

I would like to thank Yvonne Espada Gerlach for all her work as President of the EAVDI for the past 3 years. It has not been an easy time for EAVDI during the COVID-pandemic.

I am pleased to let you know that Antonella Puggioni has taken over the role as President of EAVDI (please see section below) and Manuel Pinilla has taken on the web editor role.  I wish them well.

I attended the several ACVR council meetings remotely. A number of topics were discussed and it is interesting to listen to how the ACVR runs their College.

Dr Allison Zwingenberger is the present president of the ACVR, so the connections and collaborations are very good.

The Autumn ACVR council meeting will be held in New Orleans at the ACVR and I am still weighing the pros and cons of attending virtually and in person. I am extremely pleased that the two Colleges are sharing so much and working collaboratively. I am confident that this relationship will only get stronger with time.

As ever, if there are additional areas of concern to members then please do reach out to myself or the rest of the executive committee.

If there are any topics you would like to discuss at our upcoming Diplomate-Zoom-meeting, please let me know.

Please find below some updates from the past few months. May I also ask everyone to ensure your details are up to date on the website so we are able to keep members involved and up to date with communications.

If there is anything urgent that needs to be discussed, please contact either Catherine Barclay adminecvdi@ecvdi.eu) or Fintan McEvoy (vice-president@ecvdi.eu). They can always reach me if necessary.

With kind regards,

Susanne Boroffka
President, ECVDI

New President EAVDI

I was delighted to be elected as the new President of EAVDI at the AGM of the association during IVRAEVDI 2023 in Dublin last June. I will follow the steps of Yvonne Espada, who has been holding the fort a little bit longer than usual due to the COVID pandemic and has done an excellent job during her mandate. I hope I will be able to keep up her good work. At the same meeting Manuel Pinilla was also elected as web editor, replacing Carolina Monteiro.

I am really looking forward to the next couple of years as EAVDI President and to work alongside the boards of both the main association and the British and Irish Division to make EAVDI as useful, valuable and easily accessible as possible to all the academic, practitioners and technicians with an interest in veterinary diagnostic imaging throughout Europe.

We are currently working on a new system to render the online registration more straightforward for new members and we are also planning a great programme for the EAVDI stream day at the EVDI congress in Athens in September 2024!

Looking at the more immediate future, please remember to register for the EAVDI-BID autumn meeting at Tewinbury in Hertfordshire the 10 and 11th of November 2023; the scientific programme looks terrific!

Yours,
Antonella Puggioni

RIVDI

The RIVDI 2024 calendar is now open for presenter bookings!

The RIVDI Committee is looking for diplomates to volunteer for the RIVDI training programme to present either a large or small animal RIVDI session for ECVDI residents. These run on a Thursday evening and last for approx. one hour, usually 5 or 6 interesting cases works time-wise and these can be random cases or themed. Both RIVDI and the residents would really appreciate your support, the residents find this platform a great learning opportunity and they always rise to the occasion!

RIVDI are also looking for enthusiastic volunteers to offer future Diplomate sessions for either large or small animals. If you would be happy to share 3 interesting cases then we would really appreciate your participation and support.

RIVDI sessions generally take place on a Thursday evening (UK time) however this can be changed on occasions to another day or time if this is not suitable for the presenter.

Please contact us at rivdi@ecvdi.eu to register your interest or for more information.
