The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (FMV) of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for a clinician teacher in Diagnostic Imaging. The successful candidate will work within the Centre hospitalier universitaire vétérinaire (CHUV) as part of a team composed of 1 clinician (teaching responsible), 2 professors, 1 resident, 6 medical imaging technicians and 1 animal health technician. In addition, the selected candidate will collaborate with several specialists - anesthesiology, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, medical imaging, neurology and ophthalmology - committed to providing the best veterinary care and will be an educational resource for future veterinarians of the Faculty.

The veterinary medical imaging service carries out more than 5,000 examinations each year on a multitude of species. Several imaging modalities, including radiology, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance, are available to CHUV clients admitted to hospitals for pets, equines, and farm animals. The recent acquisition of a Canon Aquilion One Prime CT scanner for CT scanning and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enhancement for a GE Artist Evo 1.5 T model, both using artificial intelligence for image reconstruction, offers advanced technology in transverse imaging and images of unrivaled quality. CT scanning by dynamic volume acquisition completes an exceptional service offering for our veterinary patients.

As a clinician teacher, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine:
Through your clinical teaching (for a maximum of 90% of your task) and through tasks relating to the influence of your discipline, research activities and the functioning of the institution (for a minimum of 10% of your task). As such, you will have to:

• Participate in clinical teaching, among other things, by providing care and services that meet the different needs of the emergency medicine and intensive care services at the pet hospital;
• Supervise students in undergraduate residents, internships and students in graduate programs;
• Evaluate student learning;
• Provide educational advice and assistance to students;
• Participate in evening and weekend on call.

To be successful in the role, you must:

• Hold a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent;
• Have completed or be in the process of completed a formal residency training program in diagnostic imaging;
• Have a certification by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI);
• Obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
• An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
