Residency Position in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging - Marigin, Zentrum für Tiermedizin, Switzerland
4-Year Residency Position in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (Small Animal Biased) Starting January 2026
The objective of this training programme is to provide the resident with the skills, knowledge, and completed credential requirements necessary to sit the examination of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (Small Animal Track). Clinical training is based at the Zentrum für Tiermedizin Marigin in Feusisberg (Canton Schwyz, Switzerland).

The ideal candidate should be passionate about veterinary medicine and diagnostic imaging, possess a positive attitude, and demonstrate a team-oriented mindset. Prior experience in medical imaging is beneficial but not required.
During the residency, on-call shifts are not scheduled for the radiology service. The resident will assist with the emergency service following this schedule:
- 1st year: 4 weekdays and 2 weekend days per month
- 2nd year: 2 weekdays and 2 weekend days per month
- 3rd year: 1 weekday and 1 weekend day per month
- 4th year: no emergency service is planned
Established in 2015, Marigin has rapidly grown to become a cornerstone of veterinary healthcare in the Zurich Obersee, Einsiedeln, and Glarnerland areas. In addition to our hospital, which primarily functions as a referral centre, our group also operates five smaller satellite practices around Lake Zurich. Approximately 40 veterinarians and 60 veterinary technicians—among them 14 board-certified specialists, 4 residency-trained or board-eligible specialists, 1 ECVDI resident, 1 ECVS resident, 1 ACVIM resident —make up the Marigin team. Their expertise spans a wide range of disciplines, including internal medicine, cardiology, medical oncology, neurology, surgery, anaesthesia, dermatology, ophthalmology, nutrition, physiotherapy, and medical imaging. This collaborative and interdisciplinary environment fosters a strong foundation for training residents in any of these fields.
Our hospital sees a wide variety of cases that require medical imaging, ranging from routine to complex and challenging cases. The satellites practices refer interesting or complex cases to the hospital, but also send routine radiographs for interpretation and analysis. This collaboration enriches the resident's experience by exposing them to a diverse range of cases from different settings and practice types. Our team of three ECVDI board-certified radiologists and one third-year ECVDI resident provides close supervision and mentorship. A highly experienced radiologic technologist, with over 30 years of experience in both human and veterinary hospitals, enhances our technical team and ensures the delivery of high-quality imaging.
On-site imaging equipment includes: one small animal radiography unit (Cuattro HD DR, Heska Corporation), one small animal dental radiography unit (iM3 CR 7 VET); three ultrasound machines: GE Logiq E10, GE Logiq Totus, GE Versana Active; one 16-slice CT unit (Toshiba Astelion Advance) and a 3T MRI unit (Philips Achieva dStream).
Residency programs are challenging, as residents face a demanding workload, balancing clinical duties, academic requirements, and research responsibilities. The place in which an individual lives can have a significant impact on their approach to work and overall work performance. Zurich and its surrounding areas offer a high quality of life with a rich cultural scene, recreational activities, and a picturesque natural environment. This creates a conducive atmosphere for a balanced work-life routine, reducing stress and enhancing overall well-being during the residency.
We look forward to receiving your application.
