Residency Program
The Clinic for Diagnostic Imaging at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich, is offering a four-year residency position starting in June 2026. The program provides advanced training in veterinary diagnostic imaging, preparing the successful candidate for board certification by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).
The Clinic for Diagnostic Imaging supports the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and collaborates closely with the departments for small animals, large animals (equine and farm), as well as the clinic for zoo, exotic, and wildlife species. Training encompasses all areas of diagnostic imaging, with particular emphasis on clinical radiology, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Learning is complemented by clinical and interdepartmental rounds, journal clubs, academic coursework, and individual research projects. Participation in the 24-hour clinical service rotation is also part of the program.
Team and facilities
Our team consists of 12 board-certified radiologists, 4 small animal residents, and 12 technicians. The radiology section serves both the small and large animal hospitals. Available on-site imaging equipment includes: two small animal radiography units, one biplanar fluoroscopy (Philips Allura), one large animal radiography unit, two spiral CT units (Qalibra/Canon Exceed, Philips iQOn Spectral), five ultrasound machines (small animals: two GE Logiq E10 and S8, one Aloka F75; large animals: GE Logiq S8 and Aloka alpha7), a 3T MRI unit (Philips Ingenia Elition), a standing low field MRI (Hallmarq Equine Standing MRI System 0.27T) and an equine scintigraphy unit (MiE equine scanner H.R. - Scintron).
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a veterinary degree and preferably have completed a rotating internship, or alternatively possess at least two years of clinical experience in private practice or academia. Proficiency in spoken German is an advantage.
