About The Austin:

The Austin is a rapidly expanding, independently owned referral centre. We began with 20 team members in 2022 and have grown to nearly 70 full-time employees, with plans for further growth into 2025. The Diagnostic Imaging Department includes one full-time and two part-time board-certified radiologists (ECVDI, ACVR and FANZCVS), two ECVDI residents, two imaging interns, an imaging clinician, and a full team of imaging nurses and animal care attendants. We are currently in the process of hiring a radiographer. Together, this team provides inpatient services for Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, and Urgent Care Services, as well as outpatient imaging services for local veterinarians.

The Imaging Team is supported by two specialists in internal medicine (ACVIM and ECVIM), two specialists in small animal surgery (ECVS), a specialist (ECVO), and a registrar in ophthalmology. Additionally, our team includes residents, interns, hospital veterinarians, and an exceptional group of nurses. We carefully select our entire team based on their commitment to patient care and their ability to collaborate effectively.

The hospital is equipped with all the necessary instruments to help our specialists thrive in their careers. Our facilities include a spacious reception area with dedicated client care services, a large central treatment area with intensive care nursing facilities, and a radiology wing featuring advanced equipment such as Philips EPIQ Elite and CX-50 ultrasound machines, Philips Incisive 64-slice CT scanner, Philips Veradius flat-panel fluoroscopy, and a cloud-based PACS. Additionally, we have two dedicated imaging reading rooms—one for general clinic use and another for "deep reading". Beyond our hospital services, we offer a mobile ultrasound service and are planning to expand with the addition of our own high-field MRI scanner in the future.

Our fully equipped operating theatres support various procedures, including orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and neurosurgery. We also have a medicine wing and access to advanced imaging technologies like a 3T MRI scanner and a PET-CT scanner.

Our goal is to promote personal and professional happiness and fulfillment. While this may sound ambitious, we strongly believe that by supporting career development and individual passions, we can create a more engaged and happier team. This, in turn, will lead to better care for pets.

You will enjoy:

  • Your choice of workdays (Mon-Fri) and flexibility (1-4 days/week).
  • We will assist with and cover immigration fees, and provide sponsorship for immigration purposes if needed.
  • An attractive salary determined based on experience (ask us and be positively surprised!).
  • Synergistic interaction with other specialists and clinicians for stimulating case discussion and follow-up.

Our values

  • We will invest in your continuing education but need you to bring the motivation. In return, we will provide you with a challenging and satisfying career.
  • We will provide a happy workplace (including dealing with any negative workplace behaviour) to ensure you enjoy working with us. At The Austin, we take recruitment very seriously because we know it is important to get the right people.
  • Being a specialist centre, expect ambitious standards and awesomeness but also expect a lot of happiness and fulfillment from your job.
  • Oh...and bring your dog to work – we have a dedicated pooch lounge for our team!

Why South Australia?

Adelaide is an exceptional place to live, with an emphasis on the word ‘live’. The lifestyle here is unmatched compared to other Australian cities. Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate and offers all the amenities you would expect from a city with a population of 2 million, including outstanding schools. Additionally, the city boasts stunning west-facing beaches, perfect for watching sunsets.

Just ten minutes outside the city, you'll find the picturesque Adelaide Hills, which are home to free-roaming kangaroos and koalas. The world-renowned wineries of the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale are also nearby. There are plenty of National Parks within a short drive from Adelaide, providing ample opportunities for outdoor adventures.

Real estate is affordable, making it possible to live by the beach or have a house in the countryside. Whether you want to come for a fixed period or stay longer, the choice is yours. We understand the needs of families, so everything is open for discussion. Talk to us and see for yourself.
