Veterinary Radiologit, School of Veterinary Science, College of Sciences, Massey University,
Palmerston North, New Zealand
The School of Veterinary Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, invites applications for a position in Veterinary Radiology as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor. Our AVMA/AVBC/RCVS-accredited veterinary programme is world-renowned providing quality, research-led education. This is a key academic post for a candidate who wishes to establish or maintain an academic career as a member of a dynamic diagnostic imaging team.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is equipped with Eklin digital radiography (ceiling mounted gantries and portable machines for both companion animal and equine imaging), several high-quality ultrasound machines (e.g. Philips, Toshiba), Philips BigBore CT scanner (with dynamic focal spot and metal artifact reducing software) custom-built synchronised Equine CT table, and fluoroscopy. MRI is available locally.
The VTH sustains a moderate but varied caseload that provides a continued challenge and growth in imaging. The caseload, though demanding, is not overwhelming. The clinical faculty is small and there is excellent collegiality and collaboration with academic clinicians in allied disciplines.
The University is situated in Palmerston North, a provincial university city of approximately 88,000 people centrally located in the North Island of New Zealand. Our region is eminently bikeable for work, and family-friendly with easy access to outdoor activities such as fishing, skiing, hiking, equestrian sports, motorsport, mountain biking and surfing.
The town has a vibrant coffee culture, numerous restaurants, and is close to some of the best winemaking country in the world. We have a provincially patriotic rugby culture that celebrates world-class achievements.
The nearest large city, New Zealand's capital city Wellington, is approximately 1.5 hours' drive away. Wellington provides a dose of big-city culture and is the departure point for vehicle ferries to the South Island. Our largest city, Auckland, is an easy one-hour flight from Palmerston North. https://manawatunz.co.nz/live/work/working-in-manawatu/
