ECVDI Newsletter - Festive Greetings December 2022
Texte

Dear Friends,

I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe as we approach the end of the year. I realize everyone will be busy with the Christmas period, so I wanted to send out a short note with our College’s Season Greetings.

I also once again encourage our Diplomates to participate actively in the College by joining one or ourCommittees. For example, we have an exciting opportunity for members to participate in the Job Task Analysis Committee. The Job Task Analysis will provide the College with important information as a base to develop our new strategic plan for the next 5 years.

There has been more awareness for well-being of our Residents and Diplomates, not only within our College but also with EBVS. EBVS received an Erasmus grant and it is the intention of EBVS to use this grant in upcoming years to improve the welfare of Residents and Diplomates. In these turbulent and uncertain times, we need to take care of each other and I really encourage everyone who feels the need for help, please to not hesitate to ask. The doors of the College members are always open.

It has certainly been a very busy year for the College. It is important to remember that the College’s success depends on the time given by so many Committee Members. I would like to thank them all for their hard work and time.

Before we start a new year, I think it is helpful to look back of what we have achieved in 2022. Here are just a few of the initiatives in random order that the College has undertaken in 2022.

  • Successful Rounds in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (RIVDI) and MOCK exam in Paris.
  • Development of a Consensus Statements on Abdominal Ultrasound by a joint ACVR / ECVDI committee for.
  • A very successful EVDI meeting in Edinburgh, the first after the Corona pandemic.
  • Continuous reciprocal council attendance for ACVR and ECVDI Presidents at the board meetings.
  • Further transparency of College Committee appointments.
  • Continuous collaboration with the ACVR for the production of the ACVR Equine Diagnostic Imaging examinations.
  • Another joint collaboration with ACVR in the AI committee. An exciting and quickly developing field.
  • And last but not least, Radiology Oncology is currently developing into a proper specialty, under the combined umbrella of ECVDI and ECVIM-CA. This is the result of years of hard work between the 2 groups and within ECVDI, and of the dedication of Randi Drees and the different ECVDI Presidents over the past 9-10 years. RO is finally ready to launch into a more official form (no longer as an add-on) within the College and will require motivated people to join us to fill in the necessary committee positions.
We hope to continue these successes in coming years.

As the exams approach quickly (at the end of January), I would like to wish the best of luck to all Resident candidates who will sit our exams.

I would like to close by taking this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and hopefully we can look forward to 2023 becoming a happier year across the whole of the globe.

With kind regards,
Susanne Boroffka
ECVDI President
