Message from the President

Dear All

Although a virtual format it was great to “see” so many at the recent AGM in September and I hope that all those who attended the conference enjoyed it. Thank you to Alison Major our conference director and her supporting team including the organising company PCO and Susanne Borrofka for again stepping up to provide a virtual conference. The talks and abstracts were again of excellent standard and I was particularly impressed with the virtual conference hall, complete with realistic sounds! Hopefully we can experience the real thing again in Edinburgh next year. Congratulations as well to our Resident presentation award winner Beatrice Gianni for her abstract, “A comparative study of computed tomography and ultrasound in depicting focal renal nodules”.

The college bylaws have been updated following being approved at the AGM and now that the exam applications are complete will be going live on the website imminently, my thanks to those who worked on them and reviewed them.

As we start the second year of my presidency I am excited about the opportunities for the college for the next 12 months and working on developing the topics discussed at the AGM and following the feedback from the membership at the AGM. As ever if there are additional areas of concern to members then please do reach out to myself or the rest of the executive committee.

Kind Regards

Chris Warren-Smith
President, ECVDI

RIVDI Update

Dear ECVDI colleagues,

RIVDI presentations and discussions have resulted in great learning opportunities for residents. The two previous Diplomate RIVDI sessions were also a success, and we therefore thought sharing cases could result in great learning opportunities, and sharing of knowledge for all interested ECVDI diplomates. We will come back with a new format, to increase the number of cases shared and the discussion associated. We believe this interaction can result in increasing our awareness of one another, allow opinions on cases to be voiced and the sharing of expertise in specific fields and disciplines.

The new format of the sharing and discussions may change as we see how it fits best. For the new trial run, we are not looking for one diplomate to volunteer and provide 3 to 4 cases, but we would like to ask each volunteer to share a single case. You can select a case because it’s a confirmed and interesting/challenging one, or it could also be a case you would like the opinion of the other diplomates present in the session.

For those that are interested please contact the RIVDI at RIVDI@ecvdi.eu. We will ask you to send a PPT case with a history and signalment.

As soon as we have 3 or 4 volunteers/cases, we will plan a session available for all diplomates (live on Zoom and a recording available) and we will inform you by Email.

We will ask each volunteer to present his/her own case and to lead the discussion on his/her case.

Please feel free to comment and make suggestions as to how you feel we can make this a great learning and sharing opportunity.

Sincerely,

The RIVDI team.
