ECVDI Resident Enrolment/Requirements

In order to enrol as a Resident with ECVDI you must fulfil the criteria below and have been accepted onto a residency training programme at an ECVDI approved training centre.

Resident Requirements

The ECVDI residency programme is designed to train specialists who have the qualities, professional skills and technical skills to practise in their chosen areas of diagnostic imaging with confidence and responsibility.  The ECVDI has two residency focuses; small animal track and large animal track.  Residencies may be undertaken in standard programmes (listed under training programmes) or in an alternative programmes which are individually designed.  

All ECVDI residents must:  

  • Be graduates from a veterinary school that has been approved by the European Association of Veterinary Educational Establishments).  The Executive Committee may waive this requirement in exceptional circumstances.
  • Be eligible to be registered/licensed to practise veterinary medicine and surgery in a European country.  The College Executive Committee may waive this requirement in exceptional circumstances.
  • Have a satisfactory moral and ethical standing in the profession and the community.
  • Have completed a minimum of one year in a recognised general clinical training programme (internship) or satisfactory veterinary practice equivalent of a minimum of two years.
  • Practise the specialty of diagnostic imaging for more than 50% of the time, based on a normal working week of 40 hours.

Enrolment

New residents must complete and submit the enrolment form (instructions attached below) within 30 days of their start date.  All forms should be submitted via the ECVDI website AND emailed to adminecvdi@ecvdi.eu for processing.
