The Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine at  North Carolina State University invites applications for a clinical or tenure track position in Radiology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Position Information:  The new faculty member will be expected to actively participate in the veterinary and graduate teaching programs, provide clinical radiology services in NC State Veterinary Hospital and contribute to the knowledge base of the professional discipline through collaborative research with other clinical specialists or basic scientists.

Diagnostic imaging in the NC State Veterinary Hospital is extremely well equipped with 6 Canon digital radiographic systems (4 small animal, 2 equine), a digital RF room, a cath lab, 2 Canon Aplio i700 and one Canon Aplio i500 ultrasound machines for small animal imaging, a Mylab 70 XVG for equine orthopedics and assorted portable equine ultrasound machines, an MiE equine/small animal nuclear medicine suite , 64 slice small animal Siemens CT machines and mobile Samsung BodyTom for equine imaging (including standing scan ability), and a 3.0T Siemens Skyra MRI suite configured for small animal and equine MR imaging. A fully integrated web based Radiology Information System (Empiric Systems/Fuji) and PACS (Merge) allows for easy report generation and image distribution throughout the College. The RIS and PACS are readily accessible offsite and via iOS devices.  An online platform (Ambra) is used for teleconsultation from veterinarians in the state of North Carolina.

There are 5 other full-time radiologists, 9 radiology residents, and 8 technologists and support staff. The radiology department is a congenial team-oriented group which is excited about the prospects of furthering the development of imaging at NCSU in collaboration with the talents and ideas of a new faculty member.  The NC State Veterinary Hospital  is a wonderful workplace with enthusiastic students, technologists and other faculty specialists who work together to provide excellent veterinary medical care and to advance the knowledge base.

The radiology faculty is committed to making this position as flexible as possible to fit the desires of the successful applicant.  Clinical service can be tailored to suit the interests of the faculty member.  Excellent opportunities exist for independent or collaborative investigational activities and for innovations in teaching.  Strong ties exist between the College and area medical schools. The Comparative Medicine Institute (CMI) located on the NC State Veterinary Hospital  campus provides excellent opportunities for participation in collaborative and translational research projects. The College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University is cognizant of the economic aspects associated with academic careers in veterinary medicine.  We have innovative compensation plans to allow for salary supplementation. Hiring salary commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications.

Qualifications: A DVM or equivalent degree is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who are board certified in radiology by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) but candidates who will have completed an ACVR or ECVDI approved residency program at commencement of the position and are board eligible are encouraged to apply as well. Candidates must meet requirements for a North Carolina veterinary license or North Carolina Faculty certificate.
