Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - North West Veterinary Specialists, Cheshire, UK

Diagnostic Imaging Specialist
Northwest Veterinary Specialists, Cheshire., UK

We are expanding our amazing diagnostic imaging team at Northwest Veterinary Specialists. The team currently consists of 2 diagnostic imaging clinicians, one advanced practitioner nurse (who acquires CT and MRI images) and 2 sonographers (one currently being trained to acquire CT and MRI images).

The ideal candidate would be an ECVDI or ACVR diplomate or residency trained diagnostic imaging clinician. We will also consider candidates with a Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging or working towards a certificate, or someone who has completed an Internship in Diagnostic Imaging. Experience in diagnostic imaging in a referral hospital is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be working at Northwest Veterinary Specialists, a busy multi-disciplinary referral hospital. We are 130 people dedicated to help pets, their owners and referring veterinary surgeons from all over the Northwest.

This role would involve acquiring CT and MRI images, as well as performing ultrasound, radiography and fluoroscopy.  A good level of competence in ultrasonography is necessary and some experience with the other modalities is highly desirable, but training can be provided.

Current facilities for Diagnostic Imaging include a Hitachi MRI scanner, Toshiba helical CT scanner, Siemens Fluoroscopy unit, computed Radiography unit and three Ultrasound machines. Our ongoing hospital expansion plans include an upgrade of our MRI scanner in the near future, and regular visits by a mobile 1.5T MRI scanner currently supplement our services.

Northwest Veterinary Specialists is an easy commute from historic Chester, Liverpool or Manchester. We’re also on the outskirts of picturesque Delamere Forest, with the largest area of woodland in the country, and within easy reach of Snowdonia and the Peak District, so have the best of both city living and rural life on our doorstep.

Our specialities cover anaesthesia and pain management, neurology and neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging; and we work closely with other referral centres in our group to facilitate clinical research and access to shared expertise.

If you would like to join our amazing team and be at the heart of it all supporting all our disciplines, our clinicians, nurses and patient care assistant teams, we would love to hear from you.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, be a member the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligible to register with the RCVS), and have a good knowledge of written and spoken English.
