Diagnostic Imaging Internship -  Bristol Veterinary Specialists - UK

12 month fixed term contract.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong interest in diagnostic imaging who is seeking to improve their knowledge base and technical skill set.

The role is to enhance and support the smooth running of the diagnostic imaging service, working closely with our team of four European Specialists in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and three HCPC registered radiographers. It will complement our team of discipline specific interns, all of whom contribute to our emergency, out-of-hours service with a 1-in-4 commitment to a Friday evening and weekend daytime shifts. The successful candidate can expect fully supported training in the acquisition of all imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, Fluoroscopy and MRI, and can expect to take advantage of excellent opportunities to participate in imaging rounds, book clubs and journal clubs and develop skills in image interpretation, including practical ultrasound where possible.

Highcroft Veterinary Referrals (soon to be Bristol Vet Specialists) is a specialist led, referral only hospital located in Bristol. In summer 2023, we will be moving to a new state-of-the-art hospital in Avonmouth and will become Bristol Veterinary Specialists. The diagnostic imaging team work alongside specialist veterinary colleagues in anaesthesia, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, soft tissue surgery, neurology, orthopaedics, dermatology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and highly experienced referral nursing teams.

A positive attitude, outstanding interpersonal and team-work skills are essential, along with a professional, proactive approach and a commitment to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care. Good spoken and written English is required.

If you think you have these skills and wish to apply for our Internship, you must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS).  Applicants must be a MRCVS by the date the internship starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview. A minimum of 24 months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice is desirable.

Salary & Benefits:

In addition to a salary (£32,000 per annum), you will have 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, days off in lieu of out-of-hours duties, RCVS and VDS membership paid, company contributory pension scheme and other company fringe benefits. You will have access to a comprehensive online library, including veterinary and medical journals.
