NDSR are pleased to announce a one-year Diagnostic Imaging Internship at our multi-disciplinary specialist referral centre

NDSR are excited to invite applications for a twelve month discipline specific internship commencing in January 2024.

We are looking for an individual with a strong enthusiasm and interest for diagnostic imaging, who is looking to gain in-depth experience in a referral hospital, and advance their knowledge base and skills set. The focus of this role would be to enhance and support the smooth running of our diagnostic imaging service and would be an ideal opportunity for candidates considering a residency training programme in the future. 

The successful candidate will benefit from supervision from our existing team of ECVDI diplomates, a sonographer, and team of radiographers. The diagnostic imaging team work alongside specialist veterinary colleagues in anaesthesia, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, surgery, neurology, dermatology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and a highly experienced referral nursing team.

We offer regular structured learning with discipline specific rounds, intern seminars, hospital led evening CPD events, and support for interests in research. NDSR currently has a team of rotating and service specific interns, and residents in oncology, ophthalmology,neurology, surgery and anaesthesia. 

The facilities at the hospital include an advanced imaging suite with 1.5T MRI, 16-slice CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and digital radiography. NDSR is an approved ECVDI residency training centre.

Essential criteria for the successful candidate include:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS)
  • Graduation from a veterinary school that has been approved by the European Association of Veterinary Education Establishments (EAVEE)
  • A commitment and proactive approach to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care
  • At least 1-2 years post qualification experience in the UK
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Desirable criteria include:

  • Clinical experience in practical ultrasonography
  • Completion of a rotating internship and experience of working in a referral environment

Located in the Surrey Hills, an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, we enjoy living and working in a charming bucolic location. At the same time, we are only 30 minutes by train from Central London and 20 minutes by car from Gatwick Airport, and so extremely well-positioned for metropolitan life and international travel.

  • The position will be fixed for 12 months from January 2024.
  • Salary: £36,000 full time PA
  • 3 paid CPD days per year
  • 25 days of holiday in addition to bank holidays and a day on or around your birthday.
