Residency in Diagnostic Imagining

A 4-year small animal biased track residency in the diagnostic imaging department at AniCura Albano Small Animal Hospital, Danderyd, Sweden.

AniCura Albano Small Animal Hospital is a large, multidisciplinary, referral hospital with approx. 42 000 visits/year. The hospital is located in Danderyd, north of Stockholm. The department of diagnostic imaging is staffed by six veterinarians, one radiology nurse and three veterinary nurses trained in diagnostic imaging. The department is equipped with three digital radiography suites, six high level ultrasound machines, Siemens Arcadis Varic fluoroscopy, Siemens Somaton Perspective 128 slice CT, Esaote grande 0,25T MRI.

Duties: After introduction, the resident will be progressively introduced to the radiology and ultrasound clinics. Later in the residency programme the successful applicant will be introduced to computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The resident will be expected to actively participate in the supervision and teaching of veterinarians during in house education and general activities in the clinic including training of hospital staff, and education activities for referring veterinarians and animal owners.

Qualifications: Veterinary degree that is recognized in Sweden and a minimum two year clinical work experience. The applicant must have a strong ambition to become a specialist in veterinary diagnostic imaging and to complete the requirements and take the examinations for the European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. Previous experience working specialized in small animal diagnostic imaging would be considered an advantage as is references from DipECVDI. Previous work in AniCura Albano Small Animal Hospital is considered an advantage. The successful applicant will be selected by interview, with emphasis given to personal characteristics.

Good English language skills are a requirement for the applicant. Good understanding of Swedish would be considered as an advantage. Successful non-Swedish speaking applicants must be willing to learn Swedish.

Place of work: Danderyd, Sweden. Part time relocation to other AniCura clinics and externships might be considered.
