Start date: 01/09/2023, gross salary per annum: 22 000€ (about 1 450€ net per month)
The Diagnostic Imaging residency offered is a three-year program designed to provide advanced training in Diagnostic Imaging and to satisfy the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) residency requirements. Individuals interested in pursuing an academic career are encouraged to apply.
The applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate ability to work with others and independently. A veterinary degree recognised by the EAEVE, a rotating internship and/or two years of experience in practice are the minimal requirements, but experience in diagnostic imaging is highly recommended. The applicant must be fluent in French.
Residents rotate between the radiology, ultrasound, CT and MRI in accordance with ECVDI requirements. The residents will be compensated for out of hours emergency cases (1 WE per month). Off-clinics time (for research, externship and study) and 5 weeks of holiday per year are included in the program. The resident is required to study towards the diploma of the ECVDI. Diagnostic Imaging residents will participate in rounds and will have opportunities to attend conferences related to the field of diagnostic imaging.
The diagnostic imaging section at ENVA currently employs 3 board-certified radiologists, 2 clinicians trained in US, 5 junior clinicians (3 residents and 2 imaging interns) and 2 radiographers. There are 2 small animal DR rooms (one with fluoroscopy), an 80-slice CT scanner and 2 ultrasound suites. A high-field MRI (Siemens Sempra) is to be installed by the end of 2023. The ENVA has a heavy case load comprising dogs, cats and various exotics.
In addition to clinical training and responsibilities, involvements in research projects and publications (under the supervision of a faculty member) are required according to ECVDI credentials. Residents are expected to participate in the daily clinical teaching of interns and veterinary students. Delivery of continuing professional development to referring vets is also encouraged and will be compensated.
