Overview

Our multidisciplinary referral hospital is currently taking applications for two ECVDI residency positions in veterinary radiology (small animal track). The Diagnostic Imaging residency offered is a three-year program designed to provide advanced training in Diagnostic Imaging and to satisfy the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) residency requirements. The successful candidates will join our dynamic team of three experienced European Diplomates in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, in a purpose built, state of the art referral hospital in Derby.

Our hospital works in conjunction with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary medicine, offering opportunities for collaborative work and teaching of the final year student during their clinical rotations. We also work alongside a Vets@Night service, and benefit from a dedicated leadership structure and extensive on-site support teams including Finance, Customer Care and HR.

Pride Veterinary Centre is set in the heart of the prize-winning Pride Park development which boasts a plethora of modern sporting arenas and commercial enterprises. Further afield, the foothills of the Derbyshire Dales offer idyllic surroundings, whilst having the urban benefits of both Derby and Nottingham cities on the doorstep and an international airport very close by.

The team

Pride Veterinary Centre strives to deliver world class patient care. The facilities include 13 consultation rooms, 8 hospital wards (including dedicated intensive care unit and isolation unit), 5 theatres, an endoscopy suite, and an extensive advanced imaging suite (comprising digital radiography, two ultrasonography suites, fluoroscopy, 16-slice CT and 1.5T MRI) with interventional radiology capability. A radioactive iodine treatment unit, dedicated chemotherapy treatment room and a rehabilitation unit (with hydrotherapy pool and treadmills) are also available.

Pride Veterinary Centre delivers multi-disciplinary, specialist-led care, facilitating close inter-departmental collaboration to provide the best possible outcome for all patients.  Our diagnostic imaging enjoys a close relationship with our other Diplomate-led services including medicine, surgery, neurology, oncology, exotics, cardiology, ophthalmology, emergency & critical care and anaesthesia.

The role

We are looking for two highly motivated, self-driven, fast-learning and inquisitive clinicians with a passion for clinical work, clinical research and learning. The applicants must be veterinarians who are graduate of an EAEVE-approved veterinary school and must be members of the RCVS.  They should have completed a one-year rotating internship or have spent at least two years in practice gaining clinical experience and skills equivalent to an internship in accordance with EBVS guidelines. Experience in diagnostic imaging is highly recommended.

Our residency program offers the benefits of a busy referral hospital with a varied case load comprising dogs, cats and exotics, while also providing ample off-clinics time for externships, research, study-leave and holiday. Participation in an ‘out of hours’ rota is also expected.

The short-listed candidates will be asked to provide two letters of recommendations to finalize their application and interviews will be conducted virtually at the end of March 2021. The successful candidates are expected to take up the position in April 2021. For additional details, please contact Caroline Fina: caroline.fina@scarsdalevets.com
