Eastcott Veterinary Referrals are opening a residency in Small Animal Diagnostic imaging, with a planned but flexible start date of 30.09.2024.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team lead by Helen Renfrew BVetMed CertVR DipECVDI MRCVS. The diagnostic imaging team of specialist radiologist/s, diagnostic imaging resident, radiographer, and three imaging nurses, undertake a wide variety of diagnostic imaging procedures throughout our multi-disciplinary hospital. Diagnostic imaging facilities at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals are excellent and include on-site 64-slice GE CT, on-site Phillips 1.5T MRI, Fluoroscopy with DSA and Road-Mapping capabilities, Philips ultrasound and Phillips DR digital radiography suite. You will enjoy a wide variety of diagnostic imaging work within the hospital aiding our medicine, soft tissue surgery, neurology, orthopaedic, dentistry, cardiology and ophthalmology teams. Eastcott Referrals is a multi-disciplinary specialist referral hospital situated in Swindon, between Bristol and London and close to the Cotswolds and the North Wessex Downs Area of Natural Beauty. A major extension and refurbishment a few years ago and very recent investment in a brand-new Phillips MRI machine in its own pod with induction suite mean the successful candidate will be able to take advantage of cutting-edge facilities. Your responsibilities:

  • Supervised responsibility for a large and varied caseload.
  • Completion of at least one clinical research project and one case report, with potential for collaboration on others.
  • In addition to day-to-day clinical duties you will also participate in an out of hours on-call rota.
  • Progress will be reviewed after three and six months and then every six months thereafter.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • You must have completed a one-year rotating internship and two years clinical practice by the start of the residency. More clinical practice will be looked upon favourably
  • You must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and eligible for full membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
