The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen seeks applications for a fixed time, four-year residency in veterinary diagnostic imaging with a starting date October 1st, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is to be sponsored by Antech Imaging Services and conditions related to that sponsorship apply.

The successful applicant will enroll as a resident (small animal track) with the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) and undergo training for the certification examination of that college. The position is full time and is based at the University’s Frederiksberg campus. Duties will include the provision of imaging services to the two University Veterinary teaching hospitals within the Department and to external colleagues, and also participation in research and teaching. The position will provide training opportunities in clinical, research and teaching to meet the requirements of the ECVDI residency.

About the Department and Section

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences has strong and internationally recognized research areas in clinical veterinary sciences. Based on these, we want to set a new standard for cross-disciplinary research, education and innovation within animal health and disease and be among the best public workplaces in Denmark. Our research supports teaching in a manner and quality securing continued national and international bench marking. The Section for Veterinary Imaging undertakes research, teaching and clinical service in the field of Veterinary Diagnostic imaging.  Based at the Frederiksberg campus it has access to computer tomography, ultrasound, direct digital radiography and DEXA.  A new 1.5T MRI unit came into service in the section in Jan 2022. The section has research, teaching and clinical service activities in all of these modalities for patients and other material arising from the activities of the University Hospital for Companion Animals. It provides clinical radiographic reporting services to clinicians at the Department’s Large Animal Teaching Hospital, at the Taastrup Campus. Additionally the section has collaborative imaging projects both within and external to the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.  The section has an approved residency programme for the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Diploma (companion animal imaging).

Qualifications

Candidates must have a veterinary degree that is recognized within the European Union or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years post graduate clinical experience.  A working knowledge of English is required.

Previous experience in clinical veterinary diagnostic imaging is desirable.

Conditions of employment

The terms of the position will be governed by Danish law and the terms of employment and salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), with employment as Academic Research Staff. The position is full time (37 hours per week) and limited to 4 years.
