We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic specialist in diagnostic imaging to our new Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Ås, Norway.

About the position

Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Companion Animal Clinical Sciences – Radiology Unit, invites applications for a full-time, permanent position as small animal diagnostic imaging lecturer/senior lecturer. 

The successful candidate will join a team of at present 3 ECVDI/ACVR diplomates, 1 ECVDI resident and 5 dedicated radiographers/nurses.

Facilities include state-of-the art imaging modalities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, low-field 0.27T MRI, high-field 3T MRI, multislice CT (including standing option for horses) and scintigraphy.

Great interdisciplinary collaboration with other specialties.

Main tasks

  • Main work responsibilities include diagnostic imaging within all on site modalities performed on small animals.
  • Teaching of undergraduate students.
  • Supervision of postgraduates and residents.
  • Research activities.
  • Management.

Competence

Required academic qualifications, knowledge and skills

  • Degree in veterinary medicine and license to practice veterinary medicine in Norway.
  • Broad diagnostic imaging expertise within all modalities and animal species.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with all services in the hospital.
  • Flexibility, strong team player, excellent communication skills, enthusiastic teacher, self-initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students and colleagues.
  • Excellence in written and spoken English.
  • Teaching, pedagogical and tutoring experience.

Personal suitability will be given weight

If the person appointed does not have formal competence in pedagogics, she is obliged to complete a course in university pedagogics within two years following the appointment.

Required qualifications for employment as Senior Lecturer:

  • Small Animal ECVDI/ACVR diplomate.

Required qualifications for employment as Lecturer:

  • Completed ECVDI/ACVR-approved Small Animal Diagnostic imaging residency.

Remuneration and further information 

Depending on qualification, the position is placed in government pay scale position code:

  • 1198 Senior Lecturer, wage framework 24, salary grade 61-77 (NOK 545.300 –744.600). Promotion by seniority
  • 1009 Lecturer, wage framework 25, salary grade 51-71 (NOK 458.900 – 658.300). Promotion by seniority

If candidates of current interest have completed ECVDI/ACVR approved residency and are authorized to sit the final exam in 2022 and lack of diplomate applicants, a 3 year temporary engagement may be established (jf. Universitets- og høgskolelovens § 6-5,1.).

Permanent position application including evaluation must be performed within 3 years. The position will become permanent if the candidate is qualified as ECVDI/ACVR diplomate.

About the  Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at NMBU is the country's only veterinary professional education and provide expertise in veterinary medicine and veterinary public health. The Faculty educates veterinarians, animal nurses and doctoral students in Veterinary Science and researches in veterinary medicine and related biomedical fields. We have 500 students and 430 employees.

The faculty consists of the departments of Preclinical Sciences and Pathology, Paraclinical Sciences, Production Animal Medicine and Sports and Family Animal Medicine. We also run the Animal Hospital, which is closely linked to our research and education, and receives patients from all over the country.
