Position: Small animal radiologist at the Saint-Martin Veterinary Hospital.

Saint-Martin Veterinary Hospital and Referral Service is a state-of-the-art veterinary practice located in France between Annecy and Geneva with a 24/7 service. Our Team includes 36 Vets (French or European specialists or clinicians dedicated to one area of expertise, residents and interns), 30 experienced diploma or in-training nurses, two accountants, two administrative staff and one director. The practice is taking care of clinical cases referred from the whole Rhône-Alp area and Switzerland. Our facility is located in an extremely charming part of the French Alps, close to several lakes (Leman’s and Annecy’s lakes) and ski resorts. Our team enjoys an exceptional quality of life (the best one in France according to recent surveys), as well as the friendly but very professional working atmosphere. The whole team will move to 2500 m2 brand new highly specialized purpose-built new hospital in September/October 2022.

Diagnostic imaging Unit

Within the new premises, the Imaging facilities will include a 1.5 T Siemens IRM, an 80-slice Canon CT scanner, two ultrasound suits (one equipped with a Philips Affiniti 50G ultrasound-Doppler machine), a C-arm and two radiology suites (one with a Carestream DRX-ascend system). A fully integrated PACS will allow for easy report generation and image distribution throughout the Hospital. In addition to the dedicated ultrasound, and CT/MRI control rooms, a separate purpose-designed radiology reading room in the same area will allow radiologists to exchange in quiet atmosphere during the clinical day.

The DI caseload is very exciting and variable and is still growing. At this stage, approximately 100 CT examinations and 140 ultrasound exams are performed each month within the Veterinary Hospital. Three experienced veterinarian in DI, two veterinary nurses and a rotating intern are assigned all the time to the DI unit and are helping with case processing.

Job description and responsibilities

It is as long-term full or part time position with 5 weeks of paid holidays per year. No out-of-hour duty is required. Remuneration will be in line with other specialist-level positions. CPD allowance will be provided as well as paid time off for CPD, payment of professional registration fees, professional indemnity cover and health care. 

The successful candidate is expected to:

- Provide imaging support in ultrasound, radiology, CT and MRI.

- To work as a team player and maintain good working interaction with the staff within the Hospital.

- Continue to develop the DI caseload and promote a good relationship with referring veterinarians by maintaining a timely professional and respectful communication and by participating in Continuing Education involving the local referral community.

- Assist in the development and training of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.

- Assist with the training of nurses, interns and residents.

Skills and Qualifications

- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent and to be eligible to register to practice in France.

- Residency training with board eligibility or certification in specialty.

- Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude.

- Preference will be given to applicants fluent in French but English-speaking applicants willing to learn French will also be considered.
