About the Role

The primary purpose of the Veterinarian will be to provide excellence in diagnostic imaging at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences.  Working within the University’s veterinary teaching hospital, the U-Vet Werribee Animal Hospital (U-Vet), which provides a wide range of veterinary services to the public, the position will provide a high quality of service within the Diagnostic Imaging Team.  The Veterinarian will engage with clients, the community and the veterinary profession, to provide first class care as well as increase the profile of U-Vet and the Faculty.

As a veterinarian appointed within the University veterinary teaching hospital, the incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of independent teaching in the area of diagnostic imaging and undertake clinical teaching and contribute to clinical research. In this capacity, there will be opportunities to develop collaborative, applied research in the area of diagnostic imaging, seeking collaborative opportunities within the Faculty, the wider University and external partners.

This position will be primarily located at the Werribee campus of the University of Melbourne but will be expected to teach and to attend meetings, seminars and conferences at other campuses or facilities from time to time.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and compassionate Veterinarian who is a true team player with exceptional communication skills and who is able to communicate with clients clearly with tact and diplomacy regarding their animals’ welfare and needs.   The ability to lead and generate enthusiasm amongst others and build effective professional relationships with both internal and external clients will be important in these posts.  As you will be appointed into the University veterinary teaching hospital, you will be required to have demonstrated experience in teaching (in a veterinary practice, university or other relevant setting) and/or clinical research and/or scholarly activity.  The level of appointment will be determined by your experience, qualifications and outputs as determined by a Selection Panel against University standards.
