The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University offers a position for a residency of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Large Animals track

The Diagnostic Imaging Residency at Ghent University is a four-year programme that is designed to provide advanced training in Diagnostic Imaging to satisfy European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) residency requirements.
The diagnostic imaging section at Ghent University currently employs five full time board-certified radiologists. All radiologists have training in all modalities and diverse research interests. The section currently has one small animal DR room, one large animal DR room, ultrasound machines, a 320 slice CT scanner (for both small and large animals, including standing horses) a low-field MRI scanner (for both small and large animals) and a gamma camera for nuclear imaging (only for small animals).
Residents rotate between radiology, ultrasound and advanced imaging services in accordance with the ECVDI approved residency program for large animals. Residents evaluate images under the supervision of three large animal ECVDI diplomates. The residents will participate to the after-hours diagnostic imaging emergency cases. Periods of off-clinic time will be assigned according to residency program. Diagnostic Imaging residents will participate in diagnostic imaging journal club and diagnostic imaging rounds. Diagnostic Imaging residents will have opportunities to attend conferences, webinars, … related to the field of diagnostic imaging. In addition to clinical training and responsibilities, residents will have the opportunity to develop clinical research techniques, writing skills and lecture preparation/delivery skills. Involvement in a clinical, translational, or fundamental research project under the supervision of a faculty member is required. Applicants are expected to have substantial experience in clinical veterinary medicine. Only veterinarians who are a graduate of an EAEVE-approved veterinary school and are licensed or eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Belgium can be accepted for the program; moreover, they should have successfully completed a one-year rotating internship or have spent at least two years in practice gaining clinical experience and skills equivalent to an internship in accordance with EBVS guidelines. The applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. Applicants should have a good level of English language; knowledge of Dutch is not essential but would be advantageous to effectively communicate with students and referring veterinarians.
Appointments will be made for 12 months, with annual renewal based on satisfactory completion of the previous year.
